Ernestina Athena was born in 1888 in Canterbury, , New South Wales, Australia. Ernestina Athena's father was George Mitchelmore and her mother was Annie Keen. Her maternal grandparents were William Keen and Elizabeth Manton. She had four brothers and five sisters, named George Victor, William Keen, Raymond Edward, Arthur Fenton, Ethel May, Elizabeth Florence, Mildred Hope, Hazel Annie and Naomi Louise. She was the fifth youngest of the ten children. She died at the age of 28 in 1916 in Hurstville, , New South Wales, Australia.
