Michael was born in 1886. Michael's father was Michael Meginess and his mother was Martha Bunter. His paternal grandparents were Patrick McGuinness and Jane Margaret Morgan. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Luke, Patrick, William Simmons, Donald Ralph, Sarah Jane, Elizabeth Ellen, Annie Regan and Mary. He was the third oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 31 on April 11th, 1917 in France.
