Jane was born on May 24th, 1839 in Chipping Camden, Gloucestershire, , England.  Jane's father was Charles Manton and her mother was Mary Chamberlain.  Her paternal grandparents were George Manton and Susannah Clements. She had two brothers and a sister, named John Cornelius, Gerard William and Elizabeth.  She was the second youngest of the four children.  She died in 1839 in Chipping Camden, Gloucestershire, , England.
