Elizabeth was born on June 18th, 1800 in Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire, , England.  Elizabeth's father was George Manton and her mother was Susannah Clements.  Her paternal grandfather was George Manton and her paternal grandmother is Jane Taylor. She had seven brothers and a sister, named William, William, George, John, John, Charles, Francis and Mary Ann.  She is the youngest of the nine children.
