Charles was born on May 20th, 1796 in Camden, Gloucestershire, , England.  Charles' father was George Manton and his mother was Susannah Clements.  His paternal grandfather was George Manton and his paternal grandmother is Jane Taylor. He had six brothers and two sisters, named William, William, George, John, John, Francis, Mary Ann and Elizabeth.  He was the third youngest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 80 in 1876 in , , , England.
