His paternal grandparents were William Keen and Mary Evans. He had two brothers and twelve sisters, named Richard, Charles, mary ann, Sarah, Charlotte, Sophia, Susannah, Cicely, Maria, Esther, Rachel, Louisa, Susannah and Priscilla. He died at the age of 77 on March 26th, 1902 in Burwood, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.²
